We’ve all been there–you’re fed up with your current job situation. Or you’ve fallen into a stagnant, humdrum daily routine. You want something new–something fresh to recharge the batteries and bring about a new spark of energy. Maybe you want to pick up a new skill or two.

But you just don’t have the time. It’s so easy to get locked into your daily routine, isn’t it? And the on-the-go nature of our current society certainly doesn’t help. It’s even a challenge to fit hobbies into your routine these days, so it must be impossible to take on a training program, right?

Well, you might be surprised. Let’s dive in.

Create a Schedule

It can seem like you’re just hopping from one thing to the next without any time to spare in between. What if we told you that might not be the case? Look, the best way to really see how much free time you have is to make a schedule.

Before you even start trying to fit training into your life, spend a week or two writing everything down. Track every minute of your day. This includes how long it takes you to complete your morning routine, your commute, your gym session, evening TV time, and even how long you spend scrolling Instagram.

From there, start to work those things into an organized schedule. You’ll realize how much time you actually have and you’ll have a clear picture of where training can fit in.

Protect Your Training and Study Time

This is a big one. Once you set aside time in your schedule for training and studying, you need to protect that time. You might have to say “no” every now and then when your friends call you up to catch the big game or hit the local nightlife. And that’s okay.

This is time that you’ve set aside for you. You’re taking on these training sessions–either online or in-person–to level up your career and provide yourself a lifestyle that makes you happy. Your time is worth protecting! Your goals are worth protecting!

Choose Courses That Fit Your Schedule

Many training programs, like AMTEP, offer a bunch of courses with diverse schedules to choose from. This way, you can make sure you pick a course that fits into your schedule. You’ll usually know from the start what days of the week and times that classes take place.

This is why it’s so essential to lay out your schedule from the start. You’ll have a better idea of where classes can fit in. And you’ll also know where you can tweak or adjust your daily or weekly routine to best fit your needs.

Communicate Early and Often

Life happens. And sometimes you need to rearrange your schedule to fit circumstances outside of your control. Maybe there’s a family emergency or work calls you in for a last-second shift change…these things happen.

Be sure to communicate with your instructors often and early. They’ll help you plan around your schedule so that you don’t miss any important work and stay on course.
