Millions of People Employed Around The Globe

IBISWorld, an industrial research company, recently put together a list of the 10 Global Biggest Industries by Employment. Unsurprisingly, the manufacturing industry snagged three spots on that list, including the number one spot. These are:

  • Global Consumer Electronics Manufacturing (17,430,942) – 1st
  • Global Apparel Manufacturing (9,675,672) – 6th
  • Global Auto Parts & Accessories Manufacturing (8,060,047) – 10th

These numbers are truly awe-inspiring and illustrate the vast importance of manufacturing and the products created by manufacturers.

And let’s also take some time to praise the employment numbers listed here. On this list alone, over 35 million people across the globe are employed in the manufacturing industry. These are everyday people simply going about their daily life yet making a tremendous impact on the global economy – as it should be.

And, according to a report from Data USA, the manufacturing industry as a whole currently employs 12.8 million people in the United States. These are:

  • Production Workers
  • Robotics Technicians
  • CNC Machinists
  • Quality Control Personnel
  • Mechanical Engineers
  • Sales People
  • Office Workers
  • Inspectors
  • Welders
  • Electronic Technicians
  • And many, many more.

These are all people in our country, in our towns, and in our communities that have steady employment and are able to grow and succeed in their careers. When this happens, this positivity and productivity get recycled back into our economy, creating a positive boost to morale and worldwide economic growth.

And, the average manufacturing salary is currently $64,861. According to Data USA, “this number makes Manufacturing the 6th highest paying Industry Sector in the United States.”

In fact, the average hourly starting wage for AMTEP graduates is $19.25 on the North Shore of Massachusetts – not too shabby for a starting position.

But what is AMTEP, you say? Well, let us explain.
