You might have said some variation of this, “Between the kids and the hours at work, I don’t have time! I just can’t change careers!”

It’s a fact of life that our schedules pull us in a thousand directions, it happens to even the best of us. But, it is possible to get the training you need to change careers and get a job in manufacturing.

The AMTEP program’s mission “is to expand manufacturing training programs across the North Shore to sustain long-term career opportunities and industry success.”

Below are some reasons why you should and how you can schedule training around your life and not the other way around.

It’s Worth The Time Now

According to Deloitte Insights 2021 Study, “U.S. manufacturing is expected to have 2.1 million unfilled jobs by 2030”

While this is a very scary number for manufacturing companies, the anticipated job openings offer workers more opportunities than ever. The possibilities are endless to pursue many specialties such as CNC machining, welding, robotics, and more. If you have been considering a job change, and you’d like to expand your future career option, this is the right choice for you.

If you’re questioning whether to do training now or later, this is one reason why you should start soon and get ahead of the pack.

How to Balance Your Current Schedule

Through AMTEP, you can select a wide array of training sessions that offer in-person or hybrid training sessions. Many of them are during the evenings, or for two to four-hour sessions during the day. While we do have some training sessions scheduled from 8 am to 4 pm, multiple days a week, that isn’t the only option for you. You can find free training that fits your schedule and not the other way around.

Yes, you read that right: free!

Depending on your current schedule, you may need more time between home, work, and training. While it will look different for everyone depending on your current boss and the job you have, you could try to ask for time off to pursue professional development.

Another option for people who are unemployed or underemployed, AMTEP will work with you directly to set up a course schedule.

Hands-On Learning Experience

Through AMTEP training, you won’t receive a lecture and then be expected to go out into the field with no real-world knowledge. Instead, you’ll be involved in the learning process from the first week of training to the last. AMTEP also gives you a chance to network and find a job that suits you best.

Finding time in our busy schedules isn’t easy at all, but for a career path that will grow with you, and join a great community—it’s worth it.
